Panasonic SR-DF101 Rice Cooker Review

Rice is just one of those food stuffs you just can’t do without. It goes with almost everything and can be used in such a wide variety of ways that nobody really has the time to count them all! It doesn’t matter whether you are having chicken, salad or fish, the chances are high that you will try to incorporate rice into the mix somewhere. As one of the worlds most versatile foods stuffs it deserves the best treatment when it is being cooked and fortunately for you and me there is a machine which will do just this. Rice cookers are a relatively new invention but they are one which is well worth looking at if you cook a lot of the stuff, so here I am going to look at the Panasonic SR-DF101 to see just how good it really is!

What can it do?

With a name like Panasonic you know that you are getting quality with whatever you purchase and the same can be said about this rice cooker. For starters it has something that the vast majority of other rice cookers doesn’t, an on board computer. The micro-computer fuzzy logic controls and adjusts the power depending on how much rice is being cooked for precise cooking and consistent results. It uses an easy, one button operation system with simple cooking icons to ensure that you make the best meal every time. Even though they have made it simple they have also included some very clever technological elements, as the menu includes options for white rice, brown rice, porridge/soup, steaming, quick cooking and a keep warm function. Even I’m surprised by the number of features!

What does it look like?

Thankfully this is a machine which you will be proud to show off in your kitchen. Well, you wouldn’t want that abundance of features to go to waste now would you! Panasonic have used pleasant looking white plastic for the majority of the outside of the machine and it has actually paid off as a design choice. It looks very neat and tidy and should blend in well with all of the other gadgets you have in your kitchen already. It is on the large size for a rice cooker however, measuring 7.8 x 10.2 x 13.9 inches so you will need to ensure you have enough room for it.

What are the positives?

The positives should be abundantly clear from the rest of this review! Almost everything about this machine is perfect, from its multi-functionality to its sleek and easy on the eye design. Panasonic have done an awful lot right here!

What are the negatives?

The complaints about the Panasonic are minimal and they mention some mechanical faults, but they seem to be due to individual machines rather than a problem with the design so these can be ignored. This is one of the top rated rice cookers, so you should not have to worry about much at all!

Give me a summary

Easily one of the best rice cookers I have reviewed. It does everything you could ask of it and more, so if you have been considering buying one of these machines I can put my weight behind this one.
